The cost of chips is higher! Murata and TDK passive component giants are considering price increases for inductors and other products: the highest increase is 20%

On July 16th, the Economic Daily reported that the global passive component industry has experienced a new round of price increases, with a much larger increase than previous rounds, and the highest increase forecast reaching 20%.

The main driving factors for this increase are the upcoming peak season for smartphones, the recovery of the PC market, and a surge of over 30% in silver prices this year, leading global giants such as Murata and TDK Corporation to plan to raise product prices.

Industry news states that silver accounts for up to 60% of the cost in the production of multi-layer inductors and magnetic beads. Since the beginning of this year, silver prices have soared by nearly 40%. Although they have recently fallen slightly, they have still risen by 35% so far this year, putting enormous cost pressure on manufacturers to mass produce these components.

Murata, TDK, and Sunac, three inductor manufacturers, as well as Yageo and Walsin Technology Group, are planning to increase the prices of multi-layer inductors and magnetic beads. Reports predict that large-sized products will be the first to increase prices, with an increase of 10% to 20%.
